Ambiguity .. the domain of the English? Leaves no definitive answer? For some that's ok, for most ... uhmmm, not well received methinks?

MarkJ, bet you never thought a good boat fire photo could so rapidly deteriorate into socio-economic conflict, didja?

Re: Boat Burns in Grenada!

I'd really like to hear more about this. Obviously they must have found the fire out pretty quickly since they tried to extinguish but could not get the extinguisher where it needed to go. But why?

I mean if my boat was starting to burn I'd kick the damn panel in if I had to or get a hatchet/crowbar on it, whatever it takes. Maybe they tried and just couldn't do it in time due to smoke and flame, but I'd like to hear more if you can speak to the owner/crew about what happened.

Re: Boat Burns in Grenada!

Do we know the cause for sure?

If its really three years and a cool 5 mill then they probably didn't jerry-rig anything. I would imagine everything was fused and had breakers.

Maybe an iphone caught fire

You know the boys at spice island and Grenada marine are licking their chops for this insurance job if the insurance company doesn't write it off

Uhhh, did you LOOK at the pictures?

The only thing salvageable on that boat is the keel. I guess you could start from there...

Wow!!!...That's amazing that you can measure wattage from those pictures! I even tried blowing up the pictures X10 and still couldn'd see the unfused (jerry-rigged) circuits.

Great citizen journalism and photos! Sad that the people on board could not put the fire out quickly. First thing I would have done is cut all the power if the fire was electrical. Then you would have a better chance to extinguish it. Second thing is the boat was burning for eight hours! If the local authorities are not prepared for a small boat fire sounds like anyone in that anchorage is pretty much on their own. Hope you are able to get more detail about what really happened. Sad to see the boat in flames but, at least everyone made it out alive.

I thought the phrase should have should been 'jury rigged'. Unless it was German boat, then it would a jerry boat that was jury rigged. Now as to "watts", don't you produce watts not draw them?

Now that you've seen the "after" shots, a few "before" pictures from the Jongert website.

Like financially?

You are mad.

Here's a sister ship built in 2006 that can be had for a mere 3.9 million euros.

Unbelievably beautiful. To me, it doesn’t matter that it was insured. To see a work of art like that destroyed in a few hours...tragic.
