Boat Burns in Grenada!

Project boat????!!!!!!!

Ummmm, OK 3 years old must have been over $5 million to build.
I just took 2 photos of the interior... see them at www.ourlifeatsea.com


But its still afloat! So thats something

Whatdda reckon that as a job?

Note the starboard side. Do you think a bit of 'bog' and then spray paint would be ok?

I wonder if the Electronic circuit panel described in this ( http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...rd-105550.html ) recent thread would increase or decrease fire danger?

This looks like a fire due to the electrical wiring being overheated; too much wattage was being drawn from unfused (jerry-rigged) circuits. So sad to see a nice boat go down like that.

This is not only scary, its downright sad! My heartfelt sympathy to the owner/s. No way on God's ocean that I want this to happen to any decent person/sailor/friend. If this wasn't an intentional act then how can we stand together and help the owner to get him/herself going again? If this is a genuine case let's stand together and help?

What does the length of the boat have to do with the price of eggs? Its not a mega-cruiser with massive superstar status or is it? So where do we draw the line?

Ok, is that what this boat cost, then fair enough. So that is what you are saying is the "cutoff point"?

I am sure that there are enough CF members we can truly rely on to establish the real facts and story behind this fire ... no?

What I am suggesting is that we stand together if it is a genuine case where insurers don't "stand their man". I am not in any way suggesting we jump in and help out non-deserving/wealthy people, who can afford such a loss.

I am a cynical, not trusting person by nature, believe me when I say that. But (yes I started a sentence with but), I am one of the first to jump in and help when it is a deserved case. Why not wait and see and not just turn a blind eye when it is one of our own (a genuine sailor with a heart and soul like ours).

It is times like this that I am reminded of our recently departed friend "Jay". Like most, I never knew him but I am supportive of everything we can do to help him and his family.

The time is long past that we, as fellow sailors, look for reasons we can support each other, rather than look for reasons we can turn our eyes away! We do it every time a sailor gets lost at sea; why not when a sailor loses a boat to tragedy?

Just my 2 cents, as many would say.

All very sad, blah, blah, blah - but IMO if someone can afford to spend $5 million on a boat (own or borrowed money) then they can take the risk of insurance not paying out, and suck up the consequences.....whether or not they go broke. Big boys rules.

Anything else would likely be regarded by the owner as socialism, at least it would have been 5 mins before the insurance company refused to pay out (I am sure they will pay out).

Ok, maybe one comment ... I don't care how poor/rich you are, consider a deserving case and give according to your means (that means ... DON'T GIVE TO UNDESERVING SHEISTERS!).

I am inclined to agree mate ... but where is the financial cutoff point?
