There are FOUR types of folks: Those who make things happen. Those who watch things happen. Those who don't care what happens and finally, those who ask "what happened?". Laugh, and the world will laugh with you...

Hi David! Everything being equal...Dutch and French Caribbean islands are better equipped in handling emergencies than their British counterpart. That also includes the quality of their roads and infrastructure.

I thought the US had liberated Grenada a while back , so not anything to do with Britain.

Looking at the timeline of events for the country the words Banana and Republic do seem to have been made specifically for them .

Re: Boat Burns in Grenada!

IMO, when you go cruising in the woop-woop you forego all such niceties as fire departments, coastal rescue, even police protection. Face it, guys, such things just are not there.

Just where the woop-woop begins is open to discussion, but even in nominally civilized countries like our favorite Australia, it is very easy to find spots where no such services are available. These spots can be only a few hours sail from major population centers.

Criticizing Grenada for the lack of fire-fighting crews is just silly, IMO.

Cheers,

Jim

Actually, there are FIVE. The fifth being those who seem to know everything that happens.

"There are FOUR types of folks:"
Well. Mauritz, we can tell that you've never read through a Passover Haggadah. All the children of Abraham, all the children of the book, should read it through at least once just to find out what has been observed and noted before.

Among the four types of sons it enumerates is "he that hath not the capacity to enquire" and you've totally missed that one. Generally any book that is in regular publication after the first thousand years, is worth taking a quick look at.

I'm sad to say another one went up in front of us in Leros, Greek Islands a few weeks ago.
