Yep...watching closely right now! My boat is on the hard in Puerto Escondido just South of Loreto. Looks like the path that Paul is taking.

Re: Baja getting hammered

Baja need this. I've taught a course down there every spring for the past six years, and I've never seen it so dry as last March. An unfortunate reality for Baja: sometimes the only way to break a Baja drought is with a Baja hurricane.

Re: Baja getting hammered

Bouy Weather is predicting it will make land fall around Santa Maria Bay and follow the Baja Pacific Coast. Tomorrow it should turn NW and die in the ocean.

Look like the Sea of Cortez will get 35 MPH Winds and 7 foot seas.

Official statement:
''The government of Mexico has replaced the Tropical Storm Warning with a Hurricane Warning for a portion of the East Coast of Baja California from San Evaristo (north of La Paz) to Mulege. Summary of watches and warnings in effect...A Hurricane Warning is in effect for..."*West Coast of Baja California from Santa Fe northward to Punta
Abreojos......* East Coast of Baja California from San Evaristo to Mulege''

Watching live postings on the BajaNomad Forums. Feet on the ground are better than computer simulations...

It seems Buoy Weather was right on... this time.

The now tropical depression is following its prodicted track.

My cruising friends in Santa Rosalia reported 35 mph winds and 8 foot seas. La Paz cruisers are saying even less wind.

Both cities had prolonged telephone and internet outages.
