Re: Bahamian New Years Eve Celebration

We had our son and his girlfriend visit us in Nassau for New Year's Eve 2013. We have stayed at Nassau Harbor Club Marina several times, and highly recommend it.

The fireworks display was incredible, and visible from our slip. Also, rest up during the last day of the year, and get out in the wee hours for Junkanoo! It was a blast! The celebration begins around 2 or 3 am, and goes until around noon.

$1.75/ft plus $8.00/day for water. Last I checked anyway.

Excellent place to provision (large grocery store) just across the street. Starbucks for wifi. Liquor store, Pizza hut(?), etc.

Have fun!

Re: Bahamian New Years Eve Celebration

If you really want to impress your guests, take a slip for a day or two at Atlantis. Expensive at $4.00/ft. but consider you all get free passes to the water park, casino, and aquarium, it takes some of the sting away. Great water park, BTW! Really first class marina, with some monster yachts slipped there. Let the drooling begin.

... hopefully you'll find 'a quieter weekend' than this weekend ...

Five armed robberies overnight, woman caught at airport with handgun | The Tribune

Its getting real mad on New Providence .... (in my opinion)

Hey Carsten......sounds like a lot of American city police blotters......I survived several bomb scares in Annapolis this weekend!

Re: Bahamian New Years Eve Celebration

We've spent our share of time in Nassau, and enjoyed our time there. Just keep your eyes open, and don't be stupid choosing where (and when) you go. Go with a couple of friends if you can. Don't go wandering around at night. Common sense. I have gone alone, looking for parts at nearby marine stores. I probably don't look like a great target, wearing my cargo shorts, flip-flops, and t-shirt. They are welcome to my LG flip phone! Lol! And they won't find much cash in my pockets, nor do I wear a watch or jewelry (including wedding ring).

Re: Bahamian New Years Eve Celebration

Probably much safer than most big American cities. As above, be sensible, but relax and enjoy.
