Just wait till one of these children dies. It will be many of the same people who say children should be allowed to do this that will then be angry at the parents for allowing them to do this.

If tragedy occurs, lots of people will be Monday morning quarterbacking this.

For those who are all for letting children sail alone around the world on their own could any of you at least give me this prediction?

I asked this once before. How do you rehabilitate to norma life after such an overwhelming experience? Bringing GIs back to the world in less than 48 hours was partly blamed for difficulties fitting in. Thats the reason the UK decided to spend 6 weeks shipping our guys home from the Falklands to allow some chill out reajustment time.

Actually, all strapped in like that looks much safer than a circumnavigation. The appearance of danger is probably much greater than the fact. Its not near the same level as putting a kid in a boat on the ocean for a few months.

I'm with you David. I stated on another thread about Pepto Bismal girl that there has to be a line drawn somewhere. What's next 14yr olds 13, 12 11 10yr olds?

Yup. My prediction is that the people doing this will keep lowering the age until some kid dies, much like a lab experiment.

OK, that’s it -damnit.

I’m inclined to agree that being the newest youngest to circumnavigate is kind of silly and potentially dangerous.

BUT, I will not sit still for the implication Tiny Tiger’s exploits are lame. Therefore, I am sponsoring his solo circumnavigation. Uh, I’m gonna make him wait until he’s 9 though.

Ha, Then you lose and I win. We are already putting on the finishing touches to Big Birds bow sprit. When we finish the bright yellow paint job 8yr old Sally sailor is on her way.
PS I have more "My kids an honor student" Bumpers stickers on the SUV back window than you do as well.

Erm, theres a huge difference between a trained person taking a calculated risk and someone who is untrained, diving with home made equipment.

Yup, and he was the youngest one to do it too.

Um, I confess that I'm having trouble finding info on wing walking on seaplanes. So for now, Tiger's circumnavigation is on hold.

I agree with David. "Youngest to..." is a foolish exhibition that will end tragically. We'll officially blame the parents, but fault will also lie with those of us who give these "records" the attention they thrive on.
