Anyone going to SSCA gathering at Camp Letts (Annapolis)?

The events start on Friday, but Hawk and I are anchored there (38 53.22N 76 31.79W) early in order to get so boat jobs done. There look to be another half dozen cruising boats also here early.

The welcome mat is out on Hawk, so come by and say hello.

What creek are you in? We are about 5 miles north of the river on our way to claim a spot for the week, but battling the south wind right now. I think we are going to Weems creek to avoid the congestion I have read about.

This will be our first Annapolis and are really looking forward to the show.

Terrific - feel free to raft up if you want. How's the motor and autopilot running?

We are right off Camp Letts. Outboards and I do not get along very well, and I like to row if I can, so I like to anchor as close as possible.

From what I read about the dingy dock, I think I'll
stay away from that too. Probably do the water taxi or just land the dink somewhere and walk it.

I don't think estarzinger is talking about the boat show">Annapolis boat show - but instead the SSCA gathering. These are close in time to each other.

The SSCA gathering is south of Annapolis and there is plenty of room to anchor and no worries about a dinghy dock.

Plot his coordinates and you will see.

SCCA Gam is on the Rhode River about 5 miles south of the Servern River (Annapolis) . The Annapolis Boat Show doesn't start till a week from Thursday. Water taxi will take pickups from Spa and Back Creeks.

Re: Anyone going to SSCA gathering at Camp Letts (Annapolis)?

Expecting to arrive sometime tomorrow, would love to stop by if we see you aboard. I'm gonna take a risk and say our outboard seems to be performing reliably at the moment and we're looking forward to exploring way up the creeks (in between the predicted rainstorms!) if you want to take a break from boat projects and join.

Helping some friends set up for Hurricane Isabel here near Annapolis 8 or 10 years ago, we met the people who bought Taleisin and they graciously offered us and our friends a tour. It would be a blast to see Hawk!

Edit: Sorry, that read like we were inviting ourselves over for a tour - not not NOT what I intended! "See" the outside - I remember a long-ago article Beth wrote about the unexpected drawbacks of moving to a bigger boat and it's always stuck with us.

Yeah, we got a little too excited about the boat show and got here ten days early. Oh well, it will be nice to finally spend more than two days in one place and get some projects done.

At least we got a place to anchor

I am here, just checking off some random boat jobs that have been lying down at the bottom of the to-do list for years. So, do stop by, it will be a good break!

There's really nice weather here right now.

We are arriving by land yacht Thursday night - We'll be presenting our seminar From Dream to Reality, Real World Advice for New Cruisers, at 4 pm Saturday in the Boat House. Looking forward to seeing lots of old friends at the GAM and making new ones.

We had a great time at the GAM! What a turnout - heard the registration was 400. We missed having our boat there, and the weather was beautiful.

Re: Anyone going to SSCA gathering at Camp Letts (Annapolis)?

Good times. My fourth gam.

Made our way back to Del City Sun-Mon.

Sun tried out our newly repaired geneker ( good), got tied up in a race outside Annapolis, squalls in the evening, anchored at Sasafrass River. Motored the canal today. Picked up a nasty shaft vibration somewhere along the line.

All good.
