Watch out with that. The pirates have attacked off the coast of Madagascar. So that might not be safe either.

So you need to look for weapons and boarding equipment. Boarding equipment is ropes just like fishermen use....
And fishermen carry weapons to protect themselves from pirates.
So, why would fisherman need to carry weapons? Is someone going to ransom their catch of fish? Not much profit in that!

As far as what's happening in the middle east, we are witnessing something similar to what happened in Iran when the Ayatollahs took over. We see how that turned out, we're living in "interesting" times.

I know this is off topic , but what's happening in north Africa is a populist movement for democracy. It has little in common with Iran. Egypt for example yearns for a secular state.

Let's hope the peoples aspirations are met at least the despots are getting a kicking

Just out of curiosity, is there any way to "hail" the Navy when you're being chased by pirates?

Re: Another Yacht Has Been Pirated

How 'bout this for a defensive plan. Loosen the boom and by doing some quick boat maneuvers (while you duck safely in the cockpit), whack the pirates off the gunnels and into the water as they try to board!?

Or send up a rocket. I'm sure that'll show up on radar. But setting of the EPIRB will attract attention as well.

Couple things: 3rd world fisherman might have a rifle but all 19 wouldn't have AR15s.... And when would a fishing "skiff" have 19 fisherman? We fish 60-80 footers here with 3 guys. Yes we have hydraulics so give them 6 guys, not 19.

One thing I don't like is the Quest killings are already yesterday's news. Something needs to happen in that story, and all the stories from here on.

Read my signature mates. It's up to us.

.

All I know is Marines fight on land and if more than 2,000 are headed that way on amphibious ships, I believe it's far from over.

Actually they fight "In the air, on land and sea".
Says so right in the Marine Corps Hymn. Maybe it's time for a little sea action.

So how is a satelite going to tell the difference if a boarding party can't tell the difference?
It's the ones with the eyepatch and parrot.... haven't you learned anything from sailing through the middle of it?
