Missing sailor may have stopped at port
May 25, 2010 - 8:54PM AAP
Police are investigating the possibility that a 65-year-old sailor missing off the NSW coast may have stopped at a port without notifying his family.
The search for the sailor, who has been named as Bill Valient from Telarah, near Maitland, will resume on Wednesday after an extensive search on Tuesday covering 6,000 nautical miles failed to locate him.
Mr Valient set off about 4.30pm (AEST) on Sunday from Port Stephens aboard his 20-foot sloop Dixie Cup.
What the hells going on this week?
I know we have assigned some constitutional right for all folks to go do what they want but this is the second older solo sailor in a small boat reported this week.
Lets hope this guy is OK and found quickly.
