America's Cup Launches in San Francisco!

Yesterday we were down at the shore watching the trial races. What a blast.

It was so mazing seeing these birds. They just tack and then fly. SO fast and so smooth!

I know there are issues with the class of boats competing and their lack of suitability for anything but the narrowest of uses, and the eliteness of the race, and the general out of touch nature with the rest of the sailing community...

But I gotta say, it was fun.

And the paparazzi even caught us there ; -)

Cool Sara. What do you think the caption will be? "Alien woman sneaks up on man from behind while watching wind powered flying saucers."

I saw them a few times last week and this week while out working on the Bay. I changed course a few times so we could get close. Team USA has two boats which match race. They are really fun to watch. I can't wait to see the full sized boats. We are sampling in the South Bay again tomorrow, which means we get to go past them again on our way down there.

I am waiting to see what carbage is wrought when the winds pick up to a nice brisk afternoon blow... They come around into the wind on an angle and they get thrown like a kids kite. Which is, I guess, what they are.

A very Rich Kid's Toy ; -)

They have blown past the chanel to our marina often and Himself cheers for Coutts and I cheer for Spithalls, but they go so fast we barely see them!

The new Americas Cup boats prove that sailboat racing is a contact sport.

*sigh*

We will be shore based. I'll wave towards the farside of the course ; -)

Both boats are under renovation... It's been a long hard summer...
