It is unfortunate that ordinary people are being affected by Mexican drug cartels. With that in mind, they may not have been pirates or drug runners, but fishermen who finally acted the way I sometimes wish I could to control the actions of jet skiers...

So if Powerboats are the "Dark Side," what are jet skiers? A quick reference to "Dante's Inferno" lends nothing for comparison.

I can imagine the next line:
911 Dispatcher: "Well, Ma'am ring Information for the number of the Mexican Police. Bye."
Just because you're in a Jetski or Dinghy (because it relates to us!!!!) doesn't mean you can go play silly buggers in the adjoining country.

OK, OK, I expect a deluge of criticism, I can read it now "how could you say such cruel things" but here goes.
We have nothing firm as of tonight other than "Mexican's in a fishing boat shot my husband!" It has an odor! More evidence needs to be brought forward. I DO NOT BELIEVE HER!!!
The so called Mexican's shot the guy just for sport???? Why would they do that??? How would that benefit their lives??? OH, and while she was struggling in the water attempting to lift her husband onto a jet sky....the shooters were arguing, suddenly she jumped onto her scooter and scooted??? Yes, they chased her but her scooter was too fast, I can accept that a jet ski is probably faster than a fishing boat. But they let her escape. Hard to believe.
Tragic??? No matter how the guy lost his life, it is tragic. Lets wait awhile before condemning anyone. Now you can call me cruel but I just do not believe her story.

Shot husband, chased wife across into the American side. Chase witnessed.
Same story as all the other problems right there in the past few months. Same description, but this time they did not have WARDIN written on one of the boats in Duct tape, like earlier this year.

I hate jet skiers.
Wrong. I hate jet skis. Maybe if someone made slow, silent jet-skis I would not mind those guys driving them so much.

Why?
Like any activity, you will have your good eggs and bad eggs. Jet skiing just lends itself to more because of it's low cost.
My Dad has two and we use them on the cape in the summer. For us, they are small boats that can be kept in his garage. That's how we use them.

Yep. I re-edited my post.
I hate fast, noisy jet-skis.
I also hate Piaggioes, except when they are parked.

Foggysail, you're not alone. Her story sounds very, ahem, suspect. #1, that is a fishing lake. Jet skiers are usually strongly frowned upon by the guys doing the fishing, for obvious reasons. That means that fast loud jet ski's disrupting the environment is something that gets noticed, yet nobody else witnessed the incident nor, chase, nor this womans "frantic" return.
She and her husband had lived down in that area of MEXICO the past 2 1/2 years, just recently returning, and it's an area she states they knew very well. After watching her interview, I was just left going - uh huh. Her words, nor emotions, rang genuine. Something definitely smells fishy - so it'll be interesting to follow just where this story leads...

Yes, there was a witness who spoke to 911 and is identified.
Yes, there have been similar attacks in the same spot in the last few months.
Yes, one boat wrote WARDIN on the side in duct tape to imitate the actual wardens, and attempted to stop boaters.
Yes, there have been multiple reports to law enforcent of problems in that area.
Doubt all you want, but don't invent a story to support your doubt.

If all that is true, why would anyone bother with boating there at all?

Well, some of the elements match up but some do seem a bit odd. He was shot in the head and she tried to get him but was also chased. So presumably she saw that he had been shot when she returned for him or was a closer but luckier target. Maybe there is more to the debrief, but I suppose my question is how did she survive? If she was the closer target it seems odd she didn't also get shot. If she circled back to get her husband but the boat left the scene only to return while she was trying to help her husband, well that also strikes me as odd.
And how did she know she had a gun pointed at her head?
I'm not saying it didn't happen this way, but it does strike me there are some questions which still need to be answered.
