the whole Abby thing is wrong but I don't think big brother regulation is the answer. as sailors this may seam like a big issue but how many people died today because of alcohol, tobacco or drug abuse. In the big picture a few risk taking solo sailors of any age are not a big issue. I think the news media hold some responsibility for publicity given to such stunts and the public is also to blame for its hunger for such information. the cost and risk of resuce is a sore point-however the same cost and risk can happen with a well crewed and sound boat on any ocean-lake or pond- that I have had personal hurricane rescue experience with when the DE I was serving on had to diverted into a hurrican of considerable force risking all aboard to rescue five sailors.I think the media should ignore Abby type stunts and when they go wrong point out how irresponsible such actions are.

Fox News did a piece on Abby, saying there's conclusive proof she was pushed into the adventure by her father. The segment, done by Geraldo Rivera, an accomplished sailor, is anything but conclusive. Watch it.

Does Rupert Murdoch own Fox news? If he does you would be a fool to believe anything you see or hear on it. Aussie's banished Rupert years ago.

I'm no fan of Fox, but this was actually a pretty good segment until the end when Geraldo had to do his little sermon. Spare us, please, Gerry.

That was the first Fox I've watched in years!

So, now we know they used Commander's weather service. Wouldn't you like to get your hands on the transcripts from those briefings?

Also posted was the fact that the Sunderlands have dropped their fund raising attempt to retrieve Abby's boat. Apparently they have come to realize that everyone else in the world respects the sea MUCH more than they, and cant find anyone stupid enough to cajole into putting their on asses on the line to go retrieve their broken toy.

Good news though for all of the Sunderlands supporters! You will soon be able to tune in the Sunderlands to get your fill! They are negotiating the rights to their own reality show. All they need now is to live in reality...

BTW, am I the only one here who keeps getting "Bigger Bras.com" ads while I'm surfing the forum? Can the adware be so smart that it actually knows what I'm thinking about?

The worst part of the segment was the woman identified as a former prosecutor and FNC analyst. She obviously was included for window dressing. Pretty clear she didn't know what she was talking about.

got me thinking where this could go ....

lookin at breaking the record to little bitts:

Looking a funding for the next youngest round the world attempt , I have researched and found that you can put brain implants in an infant and control by remote . We are looking for a candidate to launch the next attempt - I have checked into robots to change diapers and provide nutrition - What do you think ? I am working hard on producing the next record holder. ( my wife does not have as much enthusiasm as I have )

It would be great for the pampers and infamil powder formula for sponsors. If all went well the record would be for a 3 month old to hold the world record . Then the only way to beat would be a faster boat.

Do not tell the Sunderlands. They have 7 children and an 8th on the way.

Missed your chance to drown him and make it look like an accident. (Is that wrong?)
