It wasn't from the largest manufacturer?

Re: Abandoned catamaran "Be Good Too" found 3 years later

As a side note on the "Perfect Storm" the aircraft commander on the Air Force UH-60 Blackhawk based out Francis Gabreski Westhampton airport was a gentleman by the name of David Ravola, a good friend of mine who I flew the Sikorsky S76 with in New York, which we also had the occasion to fly the Donald quite a few times, he told me the story about ten years after, and what they went through to survive that, despite losing one crewmember, made an incredible impression on me how a human can actually survive when they have the will to live...

Actually, I think it's because we try to multi-task. Age has nothing to do with it. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Now, what was the question?

The whole story of "Satori" can be found on the Westsail Owners Association website.

Here's a copy of what I posted on the old Be Good Two thread:

Kookaburro and Cruisingkrol [me], as owners of Alpha 42 Hull #3, are thrilled to read that Be Good Two was found. Thanks for the heads up terah. It's tragic that the bad publicity had the negative effect that it did on the company and the effort to revive boat-building on Long Island. The cat really is sturdy and, tho' a bit heavy, performs really well in good wind.

We have been happily cruising the Bahamas since Nov 22 after an eleven day ocean passage from Galesville, MD. It was my first ocean passage so I'm rather proud to be able to write that I was not seasick and cooked three hot meals a day for the four of us. On the way the Alpha handled some very rough weather and big seas with crew comfortable through it all, virtually no slamming. Heavy can mean a good ride. We did make a two day stop in Beaufort, NC for some autopilot repairs. All systems are now working well after some attention from a very good marine electrician in Marsh Harbor. The Cruise RO Watermaker is great. Kook is a happy Alpha male.

Everybody should take another look at the Alpha. Time for Sundowners.

PS Yep, the North Atlantic is not someplace in which any unattended boat - or sometimes even an attended boat - is likely to remain upright.

I wonder if it would still be sailing if it went 3 years before being found? My guess is it would have been a reef long before the 3 years were up.

Hi Cotemar, Yes that is us [Platypuss] with the Aussie flag flying from the port spreader about a month ago in Marsh Harbour, Bahamas. Good eyes to pick her out!!
We are indeed having a great time. The boat is very comfortable, really steady and stable in the heavy ocean swells and is performing very well. Initially I was very disappointed with her performance [eg, getting beaten by half boats all the time] then we had her bottom cleaned, which took off the New York barnacles [some nearly 2" tall] and now she is doing well. The boat sat in the water in Patchogue for quite a while for final fit out before we took delivery so we did not get to sail her with a clean bottom for quite a while. She loves winds above 15 knots and is very happy dealing with 25 to 30 - perfect for the Bahamas!

Re: Abandoned catamaran "Be Good Too" found 3 years later

I used to fly helicopters up in the NY area, flew Trump quite a few times, used to fly with a guy by the name of Dave Ravolla, he was the Aircraft Commander of the UH-60 that ditched and they lost one crewmember. I met him again ten years later. He told me the entire account. How any of them survived is a miracle...

Are you bragging about your past association with President Trump? Or did you simply forget your post #33?

As I posted earlier, it was salvaged after a few days by the owner. He located it one day, couldn't find it again the next to salvage it, but finally did find it later and got it back.
