A German Single-Hander Goes Missing

Apparently a German single-hander, Bodo Rufenach, attempting circumnavigation has gone missing off the coast of Martinique. A ship named Makanika sighted his yacht, a steel Van de Stad 34, "Balu", under way on autopilot between the islands of Martinique and St. Lucia, with no-one on board.

As far as I've been able to understand, there were tools in the cockpit, laid out and ready to use, as he was attempting to repair the cooling pump on his engine.

The last log entry was dated 8th January...
