There is so much disinformation on the internet.

The real meaning of the stars -

This is your "valuable-post-o-meter" - Every time you post something valuable the value goes up. Every time you post something dumb the value goes down. If you run out of stars you walk the plank.

The real meaning of green squares -

Every time you post in a gun or anchoring thread this value increments. When you get 5 green boxes you get to walk the plank.

Nah, it's about sexual preferences..........

1 box is somewhat traditional
2 is both ways
3 is up for some additional company

4 and above is open to pretty much anything..........

If the green boxes mean high expectations, I'm out. That's too much pressure.

A question related to the boxes for one of the moderators. When the look and feel of the forum changed several weeks ago, the 3 or so thanks I had gotten disappeared from my mail lists. Did they move to folder I am not finding, did they get deleted or are they now being hidden for some reason?

Hmmm . . . you're the only member to report this, Adelie, and your account indicates you've actually received 7 Thanks! When I checked my PMs for the period prior to the skin change, I was able to find them, still in my inbox - just as before the change. If you have cleaned out your inbox recently, that might explain why you no longer see them, but the fact of the skin change cannot account for why you're not seeing them now.

I had given up on this issue when somebody mentioned 'User CP' on the 'Thank You' Button thread. I looked around, eventually figured out the CP means Control Panel and clicked on the term control panel and found that all the thanks are kept there with the threads you are subscribed to rather than with messages. Now I know.
This solves a second question I was just starting to wonder about, where the subscription list for the threads went to.

Actually it says "recieve" - somebody should sort that out; 'i' before 'e' except after 'c'.
Now, will pointing that out increase my help-o-meter count or does it make me curmudgeonly?

And then there is MarkJ who has 2 boxes.
You could get slapped for touching someone's box.

RaySea lady,

Yours says you "will receive many thanks". What more can we say?

The slap button still has bugs in it and you can't hear it very well. The moderators have the "upside the head" button though the red / yellow cards are only visible to us.

Also: Loadsman is a helpful poster!

I'll send the Admin a note about the spelling.

We always send a letter when you get them.

You can watch your mail everyday if it makes you feel better. There are no new ones pending today for anyone.

I believe you'll know when you have one else you can accumulate enough to be shown which way north is. It's more rare than most members realize. Spammers don't count. The Spammer button is a one shot process and you are gone and all your spam posts with you. It's a See, Click, Click and, another Click then done. Other infractions go through a team review process. It takes all the fun away, but it is more complete and fair. We run it pretty serious.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I thought I was getting in trouble for having a sense of humour...
