Why Only Paypal and Not Any Credit Card ?

I'll be quite happy to support the CF and be a supporting member but to pay my 15.01 USD (I love the one cent!) I have to pay via Paypal
I don't want to use Paypal for personal reasons
So no 15.01 USD to CF?

I don't get it really, why not let people pay with their credit card as everywhere else....

I'm not sure I get the animosity toward PayPal, since it takes that credit card that you want to use anyway to be the payment source for your PayPal account. We prefer PayPal because it provides protections to both the buyer and the seller, but if there are good reasons not to offer the PayPal option, I'd like to know what they are.

I asked the same question as the OP a while back and got no response. I'd be happy to support but refuse to use Paypal...

Because someone would have to set up a credit account that can take payments. That can be pretty darned expensive.

Use PayPal and that expense is eliminated.

Setting up a small merchant account that takes credit cards is pretty easy actually; I do it all the time. If you think about all those tiny little websites selling knickacks, they're almost all taking credit cards.

Curious, why the hate on paypal? Not trying to stir up any drama, but I'm interested for my own reasons since I do a lot with electronic fund transfers.

+1 for Paypal. I use it more then any of the other CC's. I just did a personal transaction from craigslist all the way across the country w/o worries. No bounced checks.

I run an online store, we have PayPal and cc.

To set up cc in OZ is an expensive pain in the behind.

Most customers use PayPal, it is roughly 70/30

Well, you have my undivided attention now, minaret . . . I'd be very interested in learning why you refuse to use PayPal.

Re: Why Only Paypal and Not Any Credit Card ?

I also will not use PayPal. Some years ago they facilitated a scammer obtaining $700 from me. Long story, but if anyone wants details I can provide.

I researched Paypal practices afterwards. They are a scary company. If you use Paypal I would recommend never giving them a credit card number. Use only a dedicated bank account, with a very small balance, and a strict no overdraft facility.

Paypal is fine if no problems occur. Otherwise you had better have been pro-active in protecting your $$$$s

Re: Why Only Paypal and Not Any Credit Card ?

For reasons political which I will not get into on this forum. Suffice it to say I believe they are an unethical predatory company, as well as politically involved. I tend to reward companies who have the interests of their clients at heart with my business as much as I can; I don't think Paypal is one of them.

For me it is another account and password to forget I don't do online shopping I prefer to support local business. So it would only be used for CF seems a little much just for one annual payment. Just my opinion

roboform.com and you will only have to remember two passwords.

I've been using PayPal since their beginning and have run more than $10,000 through them. Never a problem and payments are near instantaneous. Only negative is the seller does have to pay a service charge which they may object to.
