Too Many Posts !

I'm finding this forum difficult to follow - as there are too many new posts on any given day - it'd be a full time job keeping up with them all! Is there a way to select only those fora that one is interested in?

I'm sure there must be a setting - but I haven't found it yet...

Re: Too many posts!

Just read those posts that have subject titles that might interest you. I usually read Med location and Caribbean location postings and Provisioning. Then just read whatever subject titles pop up in the Recent Discussions box on the right-hand side of the main page that appear to possibly be interesting. My husband, OTOH, reads the technical postings most often. Why would anyone want to try to read all the postings? Some topics are of absolutely no interest to me.

Re: Too many posts!

I certainly don't read all the posts - but in order to find out if there are any posts that I am interested in I often have to search through 10+ pages of "New Posts"... Is there no automatic filtering such that I could eliminate all new posts for - for example: Women Afloat...

Re: Too many posts!

Not sure I follow you. You can go to the drop down Forum menu, and only open the category which interests you.

Re: Too many posts!

Bill,

If you don't want to see new posts made in any given forum, open the "Forum Tools" menu and select "Ignore Forum". The same goes for any given thread.

Re: Too many posts!

You can also subscribe to a subforum and then see when it has new posts in your User CP.

Thanks Hud3 - that's what I was looking for. Have done as recommended and will now see what happens!

Re: Too many posts!

You can also set up an RSS feed to your email or an RSS feed reader, especially if you're not sure which categories might interest you. You can just read the list of titles and pick the ones that interest you.

Use the thread tools, subscribe to the ones that interest you, gloss past the rest.

Re: Too many posts!

I'm a forum junkie. What works the best for me on the 20 forums I participate in, is the email notification that a thread you posted to has new responses.
