skimstupidlinks - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Every time I click on the link on CF I get this stupid error frem this stuid skimlinks:

If you’ve landed on this page, you may be wondering exactly what it’s all about.

We’re Skimlinks — a service that helps online publishers earn money.

When links in publishers’ content lead their users to click through and buy from an online retailer, we make sure they’re rewarded!

We aim to make our service seamless and unobtrusive, so your user experience should not be interrupted. If you’ve landed on this page and didn’t mean to, unfortunately you’ve most likely clicked on a broken link along the way. Links can be broken if they are badly formatted; if you spot any again, we’d advise reporting these to the site owner.

- Team Skimlinks

This started some time ago, I suspect board owners installed some new plugin in attempts to increase revenues, but this stuff fails to work correctly. I don't know whether it is a poor implementation of the plugin that causes an error or slimlinks is fauty in itself - but this is EXTREMELY annoying. Any chance of fixing this?

This shouldn't matter much for the links

Can you tell me more about your system? OS, browser, etc?

Do you allow cookie exchange with the site? We use cookies to remember at sorts of things like your browsing preferences, keeping you logged in at page changes, etc... if they are blocked you might see some link strangeness...

Yes.

And another PITA is this ever returning splash screen asking me to do this or that every time I open a new window with CF in it.

I am known for being grumpy and of bad character and it really me off.

If I say I do not want something ONCE thats what I mean. I do not have to be asked six times to confirm I do not like splash screens written by ignorant developers.

Maybe someone can fix it.

Re: skimstupidlinks - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Win 7 pro, chrome (latest, v. 50), Kaspersky blocking popup ads (but no banners or other type of ads are blocked). I am logged in, cookies are allowed, it is rather plain vanilla system.

If I copy URL to the clipboard and enter it into the address field of the browser manually, it works just fine. The problem is that if I click on the link on the page, it gets intercepted by this skinlink plugin and then goes the error. Dunno, maybe they have Geo IP on? I am from Russia

Re: skimstupidlinks - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I'm no expert.. But, had Win 7 and had nothing but issues with Chrome and Adware being stuck in it by 3rd parties.. Firefox browser worked best on my Win 7.. No adware issues or 3rd party piggy backs.. Currently have Win 10 and Chrome is far to invasive concerning ad content, but still works better then Explorer Edge.. Haven't tried Firefox with Win10 yet..

I have the same skim links problem but not all the time. I use a BlackBerry 10 that has never had this issue before or on other sites

Re: skimstupidlinks - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

If it were me, I would first check Chrome settings, click extensions and make sure something did not add a extension you did not want. It's always good to check that. Odds are Skimlinks is running as a chrome extension.

Then clear cookies.

Then run superantispyware Good for removing bad cookies and malwarebytes. It could be a 3rd party extension or rabid cookie.

I never even heard of skimlinks till now.
