Singlehanding Sub Forum Possible ?

It seems like the singlehanding threads end up all over the place. Is it possible to get a dedicated subforum? Maybe under The Life Aquatic?

Thanks so much!

This is being discussed by the site staff.

Point well taken. Ok, I withdraw my second and steadfastly refuse to join in with any such nonsense.

Damn.... another bludi sub forum to have to trawl through...
Whats with this need to form little clique's....
I'm against... segregation does not work... creates boring threads without controversy and the Mod's get an easy life...

PS; Back from another successful delivery of a non seaworthy boat... ROFL

Dat's the problem for sure. Singlehanders don't really do much differently but I too share the feeling of being out of place here often. May I offer a modified suggestion:

The Skipper thread: no boat yet but interested, same old questions

The Captain thread: new boat, same old questions

These two could be attached to a FAQ section of their own. This is a serious suggestion. Somewhat less seriously:

The IDK thread. This could be linked to the thread being responded to but a bot/filter would seek out when it starts with "I don't know jack about the question but feel an inner compulsion to express my peripheral comments about the general subject."

Welcome back Boaty. If it had been seaworthy the owners would have sailed it themselves.

Re: Singlehanding Sub Forum Possible?

Hold on a bit and they all become single handers. For who can bear a true, devoted sailor?

Re: Singlehanding Sub Forum Possible?

Using descriptive titles to threads about single-handing and using the tagging feature makes it easy to find the threads you're looking for by using the CF-specific Google search feature. Dividing the forum into more and more specialized sub-fora sounds attractive on the surface, but can create unnecessary complexity.

Re: Singlehanding Sub Forum Possible?

I dunno what the actual technical term is and probably not doable with the board software - but I would favour "multi-indexing" of threads. As the info is digital no reason why a thread could not appear in more than one sub-forum (and not as a copy / duplicate).

Obviously would require some input on the indexing (albeit don't have to index everything) but seems to be a few Mods around at the moment with SFA better to do......

To cut down on the reading I nowadays exclude those sub-forums that are mostly of no interest. and mainly use New posts - thins things out nicely to quickly scan through. Upside / downside is that I don't get quite so much info nor feel so inclined to chip in. As I said, upside and downside

Me too, except I use "new posts" exclusively.
