Hello, I am new to Cruiser's Forum and want to say hi to everyone. I have a beutiful restored 1969 Morgan 30' at present and next week I will be doing an open water test run on a 1992 40' Catana. If all goes well I will have the Catamaran I have been dreaming about. Any information on the older Catana's would be great. In Cruising World this month in the Hands-On Sailor there is an artical on satellite radio and although advertised for reception in and around US coastal waters only, S/V Amazing Grace says you can receive a signal in the Caribean and Pacific. Has anyone else had this kind of good luck with reception and if so was it Sirius or XM? I am intereted in this for the weather down loading. PS: The 30' Morgan is forsale, CaRolAnn is the pretties girl on the block and fun to sail! David Last edited by DWT; 05-04-2007 at 15:22. |

Welcome to the forum David. Didn't they just merge? (Sirius & XM) . May I suggest you also check out the Cantana Owners Group. The Catana 431 - information for cruising sailors |

Thomas, They are still trying to get permission from.... I believe it is the federal government to merge. Being able to down load the weather with either sounds like an easy way to have up dated info. Have you tried it? David |

david, That is a link to a previous discussion here that is the XM Radio & Sirius Radio portion of my previous post. First hand info from users there. The weather info broadcast is directly from NOAA and is the same radar, etc. info found on the NWS site. It is not a download but a real time picture.

I suppose that if you can get the information in a useable format, it would be good. And no, I haven't used it. I'm a bit on the anti-pay for what use to be free side of things. |
