Real Time Chat Room

Would be nice to have a real time chat room if it would be possible to set up. Maybe you could poll the members to see how many would be interested.

Thumbs up It's possible ...

I know it's possible to implement a real time chat room here, but I think we'll wait till we get a lot more members.

In the meantime I'll check how to make it

Thanks . . . . .

Like you don't already have enough to do . . . .
I'm sure I speak for all when I say thanks for all the time you've put into this site.

Re: Real time chat room

So it's been a few years since the last post in this thread... But it looks like there are a lot more members now in 2011 Maybe it's time to revisit that chat room.

Re: Real time chat room

down side to a chat is if informational dialogues happen there then no record is created for future reference and I don't know about you all but I actually use all those back posts as invaluable reference material.. I would hate to loose that...

Re: Real time chat room

A chat room sounds nice but Sarafina is right. The short time I've been a member I've found a lot of invalueble information. If people had a live chat option a lot of information would be lost.

Or, how about now, in 2016, almost '17!

Still same reason not to have it - no valuable information retained for future reference. Would defeat the major purpose of CF.

Re: Real Time Chat Room

Couldn't disagree more. I waste so much time looking through endless rants of others that go off topic. A more direct approach needs be eatablished. Not to mention a lot of the info is outdated. Much like this one from 2008 which is the first thread that comes up when searching the topic. Not looking for something to replace Cruisers forum, just subsidize. Not everyone has all day to read endless posts that have nothing to do with the original subject - or post and wait days/weeks/or in this case YEARS, for a valid response.. no thanks.

I fail to see the logic of your argument. How does not having any information beats out having some which is outdated? Sure you will get a quick answer from a member but all the rest of 3,000+ of us will be left in the dark on that particular issue. A sure way to kill an information based forum. Which is what chats used to do at the dawn of the internet with their flame fights and dramas. At least with the current format the mods can cool off most conflicts and situations. In the chat it will be a free for all with predictable consequences.

Re: Real Time Chat Room

CF is topic driven and offers a timeline function to review current topics

Seems to me that improving the search engine with more versatile filters would satisfy most complaints
