Posts to thread by email ?

On some blog sites there is the option for the writer to upload posts by email, usually by posting to a generated email address. I'm just wondering if it could be good to add a similar feature to the forum???

I was thinking that the thread starter could be given the option to select "post by email" which would generate a random email address. Then any email sent to it would be posted to the thread. Maybe there could also be an option for the forum to send by email all new replies in a basic text format.

Just imagine this, Boaty sets off on a delivery after starting one of his "famous" follow me threads and along the way he emails updates via his Spot. If he has a satphone or SSB/Pactor with him, he can request email updates and have a laugh at the banter and reply via his compressed data email service.

Anyone think this could be a worthwhile feature?
