Re: pop up ruining this site for me

It may not have anything to do with the CF site. It sounds like your OS wants you to upgrade.

Some features on this site may not work w/o an up grade on your OS.

Re: pop up ruining this site for me

Do you have Chrome on your Android? I use Chrome browser on my Android tablet and get annoying pop-ups from this site. Chrome has a selection, "Request a Desktop Site". This forces the site to send the full page, not the mobile version.

...sure hope this is of some help

Must have something to do with your browser, no pop ups with Safari on the Mac.

Re: pop up ruining this site for me

What's a pop-up?

Since installing AdBlocker and NoScript, I don't see ads and that was years back. The rare time I see someone else's browser experience, I am shocked at how cluttered, ad-ridden and laggy it is.

I have disabled Internet access on my Windows phone for exactly this reason. I have a sweet grandfathered plan from 1999 that allows very little data, so unless I absolutely need to, "browser on phone" isn't happening. I have a netbook for that sort of thing.

Re: pop up ruining this site for me

Try googling the web address of the pop up.. sounds like you have malware on your phone... Easy to get rid off.. several YouTube videos will help. Pretty much just involves going to settings, internet, delete all cookies, history, and internet data.

Re: pop up ruining this site for me

I use the DU speed boost app from the play store. It does an assortment of things and works great. Protects, cleans, manages, and boosts. My LG G3 is fast and clean. Really works. Hope this will help. I'm Android just so you know. Good cruising...

Adblock Plus ! Never seen an ad , WOT ( Web of Trust ) Tells you when it's malware / bad page, gives you a choice to go there or NOT !

Just saying .

Re: pop up ruining this site for me

Not ads guys. The pop up windows I [I]was[I] getting were from the CF site. Solved by using the Desktop version through my Chrome browser. Original post was getting pop ups for upgrading his OS, not ads.

Just clarifying guys
cheers

Are you running any sort of anti-virus on your Android? If not, give Avast a try. Have it do a full system scan to start.

Re: pop up ruining this site for me

The OP's question aside, I have a CF popup on every page (tab) asking me to enter my email. Even when I've logged in.

That is a REAL Pain in the Poop-Deck!

Re: pop up ruining this site for me

If there is malware of any kind I think the source is the CF site. If it is not actually malware then it is the version of the website that goes to "mobile" browsers.

I got the exact same pop-up asking for an email address that would not go away. It all stopped when I selected "Use desktop site". Whatever causes this problem, (maybe just a bug), it is associated with mobile browser accessing the CF site.

Motion30 - can you download Chrome Browser to your device?

Where do you find "Use Desktop version" ... I am using a laptop, but don't see that option.

Re: pop up ruining this site for me

On a device running Android OS, and using Chrome Browser, on the top right side of the browser window are 3 vertical dots. Those dots are the handle that open some of the browser settings. Tap on those dots opens:

New Tab
Incognito
Bookmarks
Tabs
History
Share
Print
Find
Add to Home Screen

then

Request desktop site

Requesting a desktop site means that the website will send the 'full version' of the website like you would see on a full PC/Mac, not the limited 'Mobile version'. This switch works on many other websites like FB or YouTube where you may not like the mobile version.

Sure hope this work around helps...
