Photobucket images - not for forum use
Recently the image hosting service Photobucket changed their terms of use for account holders and no longer allow embedded images to be displayed on forums. As a result the forum had many threads lose their photo documentation.
Moving forward we will disallow links to Photobucket and ask that you store your images with the posted text that they were intended to augment, here on the forum.
Forum members can store images posts and threads using the attachment option found in the advanced reply editor or in photo albums set up in individual profiles. There is no cost to store images here and this will ensure that your content is not diminished by an image hosting service changing their minds about how your content is handled. Thanks for understanding.

Welcome To The New Photobucket!
According to the Photobucket web site:
Photobucket has new management, and we are liberating your images!
As of today, your hosted images are live.
Photobucket has a new management team that wants to do the right thing. We are committed to earning back your trust and offering comprehensive and flexible image storage and hosting options for our customers. We’ve taken your feedback and made some changes to our pricing model that allows us to offer competitively priced plans that fit the needs of all of our customers.
Today, our current customers’ hosted images have been restored and Photobucket is introducing a new pricing plan that is built around everyone’s needs.
For a limited time, we are offering a new, competitive subscription package that includes ad-free storage and 3rd party image hosting for just $1.99 per month, or $19.99 per year - which is 95 percent less than the previous pricing model. A free subscription option will still be available to customers who do not require 3rd party image hosting. Here is their new pricing plan.

Photobucket images - not for forum use
Seems to work, I have not paid and won’t.
Don’t understand? Are we allowed to post our old images now, just have to pay for new ones?

Re: Photobucket images - not for forum use
I'm guessing their business was sinking fast after screwing everyone over last year. I don't think I'll pay them going forward, however (fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me)

Are you telling me it previously cost $400 a year to host pictures on Photo Bucket? WTF?
You know they are in trouble when they make a 95% reduction in price.

That's weird. I looked at their web site and found their definition of "3rd Party Hosting."
It includes this:
"For example, using the <img> tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum, Etsy, eBay auction listings, blog, etc. is 3rd party hosting."
So by their definition, if you haven't paid your image shouldn't be visible on this forum. But I saw it just fine.
My practice has been to always upload the image to my "album" on the forum if I want to embed it in a post. That way I know it'll be there as long as the forum is around.

They have restored all the 3rd party images that they obliterated on June 30, 2017.
They also have three new plans, one free (w/o 3rd Party hosting), the other two are monthly or annual that include 3rd Party hosting at MUCH lower cost than their initial $400/year extortion rates.

That $20/yr 10GB plan is gone.
The new plans are $30/yr for 2GB (~400 photos) or $70/yr for 20GB (~4,000 photos).

Re: Photobucket images - not for forum use
One of the free alternatives to Photobucket has been Flickr.
The Flickr hammer has come down.
The updated Flickr service plans have been announced.
The free plan permits up to 1,000 images to be hosted. Free users with more than 1,000 images will be prohibited from adding additional images and excess images will be deleted, oldest first, starting in January and February.
The Flickr Pro pay service is $50/year with unlimited images, enroll before the end of November for $35/year.
