No vessel in distress; only seeking information of hypothetical scenarios

Dear all in this beautiful website,
I do not want to deceive anyone as a new member: I own no vessel. When I ask a technical question it is only a hypothetical one as I am only seeking information of how certain situations should be handled, when facing critical decisions at sea in heavy weather just to satisfy my own curiosity. There is no actual boat involved, no vessel is in distress. I surely hope I have not broken any forum rules by proposing various scenarios and asking you members your advice, opinions, strategies to solve critical nautical predicaments that could possibly occur in a motored yacht journey in all kinds of weather. You have all responded so swiftly and with such respect and marvelous experience from your own personal knowledge that I have been greatly humbled by your kind responses, and gratefully enlightened to learn of your thoughts on a topic on which I became intensely focused, trying to envision the actual playing out of the solution to a critical nautical dilemma that any captain might face on the sea.
As a child I loved to "PRETEND"; perhaps this is an extension of that fascinating activity of the mind. I thank each of you for your gracious responses.
Most sincerely,
ekps1388
PS: I do not know how to find the "Quick Reply" to thank you members for your replies. Sometimes it is available, but other times I cannot find it. Please know I am most grateful to hear from you , even if I cannot find the means to tell you.

The "thanks" button is at the bottom right of every post and looks like this:

You can just hit this button on the post that you felt was helpfull and your thanks will conveyed to the member via their user CP page, or they will get a message informing them. When you click the thanks button there is the option to include a short note.

Don't be reluctant to ask questions on the forum, that is why we are here.

Another little handy gizmo is the Report Post button.... Use this when you notice a reply that breaks the rules; it sends a notice to the entire staff and whomever is online can deal with the issue quickly.

There is also a Challenges sub forum - where you get to write own scenario and ask folks to run through ideas. some of them may even be useful...........

David, (if I may call you that),
Thanks for the tip. Someone else actually transferred my original poser to the Challenges sub forum. It is good to know that challenges was created to handle hypothetical dilemmas of seamanship. Thanks for your input.
