John,

Yeah, no problem seeing you on the map. As soon as I click on the map icon you pop up and can just zoom in from there. No idea why the marker won't show up for you and Kau Nui. I'm assuming that you do see others on the map? Very strange!

Hey, just happened to think, (a rare occasion) Because of a failed hard drive I had to download the latest version of Google earth. Suppose there's a chance that might have something to do with it???

George,

Looks like it's a conspiracy! You seem to have the same problem, you're on the map, but only others can see you? Hummm, can you see Skiprjohn on the map?

Something is funny.

Question. Did you go to Member Map (Globe Icon above) to find me or do something else?

Greg S.,
Thanks again. At least I am not as crazy as I thought. I've entered the information properly but just are not able to see it through my computer.
I downloaded the latest free version of Google Earth just last week.
Hope someone can help us straighten this out.

George,

Yeah, went to the globe icon, clicked on it and, when the map came up -- Zoomed into NB, NC -- Found the right balloon for you and, when I clicked on it, it brought you up.

Maybe it has something to do with cookies? Not that it should make any difference, but if it helps someone fix the problem, I'm using Firefox V2.0.0.1 for a browser.

John & George,

I tried looking you up using both Firefox and Internet Explorer. As you can see you do not show up on the IE application, at least for me. In fact, if you look at the second set of thumbnails, for George, you will see that there is a dramatic difference between the number of members that show up on the map when using FF and IE.

I can only guess that it must be a programing glitch in the Member Map application, as there should be no reason for it not to work in IE. Looks like the spam hunter boys will have to put their programing hats on for a bit.

Deciding which browser to use is almost as touchy as deciding which anchor to use, but if you want to try Firefox, here's the link. Firefox - Rediscover the Web
(All I will say on the matter is that I did not go back to IE after trying FF)

Can one of the "Spam Buster" or other similarly talented keepers of the forum comment on a possible solution?

It seems, IE being the most widely used browser, our map ought to work with it. This thread is almost 4 months old and no real action or advice has been offered. Greg has ponted to a possible cause.

I think the problem with the member map is that same mystical force that always removes one of your socks from the dryer! I hope you guys aren't using the member map for navigation are ya?

Yer a funny guy George!

Actually we don't have any access to that part of the bbs. Only CF owner/operator AndyR has that access. I'm suspecting it's not necessarily a flaw in the program but a limitation on the number of responses that can be displayed by the application. If it's an error in the database query Andy might be able to fix that, if not the software developers will have to address that issue.

I just checked the software mfgr's site and the demo for XBox Live. Their map has over 1600 users listed and works fine. Takes about 3 minutes to load them all but doesn't seem to be limited by the number of users. The version of the s/w used on here is ver 2.02 and the Xbox Live site is ver 2.51. Maybe a software upgrade is in order!!! Members speak out and PM AndyR for a fix!
