Member conduct???

Member Conduct

You hereby agree to refrain from engaging in any inappropriate conduct when using the Websites. Inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated and may result in the termination of member privileges. Inappropriate conduct is any conduct deemed by the Company to be harmful to the online community, including not limited to the following:
  • posting any content deemed by us to be obscene, sexually explicit, vulgar, threatening, harassing, or abusive;
  • posting content containing nudity or violence;
  • soliciting personal information from anyone under 18 years of age;
  • providing a hyperlink to any website containing nudity or violence;
  • soliciting or promoting any criminal activity;
  • posting content which promotes hatred of any race, ethnicity, sex, gender, or religion;
  • transmitting unsolicited email to the Company or any member;
  • impersonating any person or entity;
  • posting advertisements or any other form of commercial solicitation without express authorization from the Company;
  • infringing the intellectual property rights of any third party, including copyright, trademark, patent, privacy, publicity or other personal or proprietary rights;
  • posting any defamatory or otherwise false information; and
  • posting or transmitting computer viruses or any other malicious software.
I have now had 2 replies to posts removed as being offensive. I do not feel I was offenise in any way. The first post was a response to something I find very offensive, putting animals above and before humans, the second a waste of bandwith about a possible "MacGiver" situation that is now 10 pages long. If the mods want a free exchange of ideas and information they need to be a little more sensitive to all members who don't violate the TOS (terms of service) . If they just want the power to mod thoughts.... see ya

I don’t know where you copied those rules for Member Conduct, but they don’t appear to be ours.

This public complaint is against our rules of conduct.

Excerpted from the CruisersForum Rules, here: http://www.cruisersforum.com/?page=rules

Be Courteous!
We aim to ensure that the forum is an enjoyable place that you want to visit time and time again. Our underlying philosophy is that the strength of the member relationships we build here is what sets us apart from the other boards - we are friendlier, more civil, more insightful, more mature and more fun.

* Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Challenge others' points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully.
* Do not post unsubstantiated gossip, libelous remarks or directly misleading information.
* Stay on topic by keeping discussions relevant and on track.
* Do not post the same discussion more than once or in many forums.
* The language of this forum is English. If you are not a native English speaker, do your best. We are glad to have you as a member and will be supportive and polite.
* Be mindful of yourself and others. This forum is not a democracy; it is privately owned and we make the rules. If rules are violated we retain the right at our discretion to remove, edit or delete posts and if necessary ban or remove members. Any abuse toward our staff may/will result in immediate suspension of your account. Complaints about moderator decisions may not be made in posts; instead send a private message to a moderator, administrator or use the Contact Us form to reach the owner Cruisers Forum. If a moderator deletes or edits one of your posts and you disagree with the action, contact the moderator concerned. Do not repost deleted material.
* We take the "be nice" rule VERY seriously! We do not tolerate ANY rudeness.

FWIW:
I sent a PM to easterly, explaining why* I deleted his recent message, providing a quick-link to our rules. His private reply to me argued that he thought that the member (he publicly insulted) didn’t belong on this forum.

* Among other very insulting remarks, easterly called another member a “nut job”.

Finally, easterly posts this public complaint - a clear violation of the CruisersForum rules; which he appears to not have read (instead posting some other’s rules - possibly a copyright violation).

MacGiver was a TV show where a guy would make a jet pack from a fire extinguisher, a half-bottle of ammonia, some coat hangers, a spring out of his watch and adhesive he boiled out of some exotic plant. Saying someone is doing a "MacGiver" means they are doing a jury rig that is either the height of genius, or total stupidity. Usually denotes at least some level of derision, but not always. The show was just a wee bit over the top.

Reasonable question, but in the end, this is off-topic, so I'll stop here.

On topic I'll say I've had at least one post pulled. Thank you mods for doing a great job. Sometimes it seems like the reactions are a little quick or a little too touchy, but that's better than leaving it too long. I wouldn't change a thing.

Cheers for that. Vaguely rings a bell.

Unfortunately doesn't narrow the thread in question down

But no worries. Not my hooha (sp?!).

The star of MacGyver has recently been seen a lot on TV as the head of SG1 on the series Stargate

Gord,
Those are your rules. I copied them from this website under the terms of service. There is no copyright violation.
