Karl's Marine Annapolis, MD

I purchased a Fischer Panda 4k generator. Never again! I was cruising in the Chesapeake when, after 1k hrs, it started running too fast. Contacted a marina. They recommended Karl's Marine to repair it. Hartge boat yard, the marina at Galesville, MD was great. Karl replaced the governor on the boat, reinstalled it and it would not run. He did not know how to set the timing. At $110.00 per hour, he had already run up a 2k bill. He then took it to his shop and returned it, another story, and installed it. It ran bit slightly too fast. So he put a bolt on the accelerator, a one hour temporary fix that could have been done initially. He gives me an invoice for 3k. Less than 100 hrs later, the exhaust manifold fell off as it had not been tightened properly. Another 6 hrs, the generator is again running too fast. All the while he is telling me about his church and boy scout affiliations. The designation at the top of my invoice probably tells it all: "Transient".

Sorry to hear of your crappy experience.

Never hire a one-man-band for engine work unless you know his bona fides. Period.

You should have taken it to Bay Shore Marine in Annapolis. They are excellent.
