Guys as an apple developer , I've struggled with my anger level with this app.

It is very incomplete and really hasn't had a decent update since it was launched

Issues

* regularly gets out of sync , will not parse server , requires kill app and relaunch

* very poor at recovery from lost network , most time requires kill apps

* bugs in the thread editor , causes lost text or mis position on screen

* significant functionality on web site not available
- avatars
- advanced editing
- full user cp
- misc app faults that kill the app

-differences between web and iPhone app, I can load pictures directly from app but not from web etc

Its a poor app and needs some serious work , ladies and gentlemen

Dave

It annoys me, as a serious developer. I mean look at the network lost error message text , its virtually " ill cmd" !!!

Re: Ipad/iphone CF app

FWIW. I very rarely use the app. It's nothing like the real thing. I do use it sometimes though so next time I'll take note as to why I went an done that.

No thanks I've enough pro bono work !!!!

Presumably someone paid good money to develop it , I'd get them to look for a better return

Re: Ipad/iphone CF app

I agree completely with Dave, and have complained about it before to no avail, especially with respect to the failures when the network connection is marginal. The response I got was that such behavior is normal. Wrong. Completely unacceptable, and I think we are wrong to just say "be happy that you got anything". The world gets better because people continually critique what we do and look for ways to improve. Doing so is good, not bad. The app is clearly written by people who are complete amateurs, and for some reason we think that's just hunky dory.

Re: Ipad/iphone CF app

I have no idea how much the developers were paid. There seems to be a lot of free work provided by moderators here at CF. Perhaps the owners of this forum also chinsed out on the development costs -- and therefore got what they paid for.

Just a possibility...

Absolutely! It's a known fact that this forum grosses 100,000 Euros every 11 minutes--7 minutes during gun threads--and that the owner is secretly bankrolling the United Emirates Americas Cup Syndicate. And don't believe for a minute that our mods are working for free. They make huge money on the lecture/concert circuits as a result of their "volunteer" work here. I know for a fact that last week one of them opened for the Grateful Dead.

Huge money. Huge money.

Re: Ipad/iphone CF app

I don't like the app at all.
I use it on my ipad for loading photos only.

Not sure if you're affirming my suggestion or just failing at being funny. Or are you confirming the iPad app is crap and the developers suck? Hard to tell...

As far as I know mods do not get paid ... am I wrong? If so, sign me up! As for the six-figure income, geeze, I didn't think it was that much .

Clearly there is money going to the owners of CF. I'm looking at ads all around this page. There are also paid users, and at least four snoopers funnelling my private info off to paying services like Google and Quantcast. I have no problem with this (although it would be nice to be more forthright on the snoopers).

My simple point, since perhaps you missed it, was that instead of dumping on the developers of the CF app, perhaps the reason for its poor design lay with the contractee, not the contractor.
