I have long sailed on lakes and rivers, and am now looking to buy a
used boat that was in ocean. It had the bottom coated in 2006, and "waxed" last year. I am used to seeing shiny smooth bottoms on my boats, but this
boat has a coating on it that has a lot of texture - sort of looks like tar had been rolled on. This includes the
rudder. I don't mind losing a bit of speed, but the question is whether this is a deal breaker, or something I should just live with, or something that I should think about
sanding off when I get it back out of the
water next fall. Thanks all -
