Double Click - Slow Performance

Every page, every thread, is taking up to 5 minutes to load because of this crap. You guys need to fix this cause you're gonna lose readers.

If you are using Internet Explorer 7, try adding IE7Pro. This free download allows you to block all of the pop-up and flash crap in this and other sites. We've added it to all our computers and have been very happy with the improved performance.

See IE7Pro - The Ultimate Add-On for Internet Explorer

FWIW...

I'm on a company laptop with XP Pro and Firefox 2.X. I'm limited as to what I can put on here.

If you can't use an ad-blocker, just wrap the doubleclick.net host names back to 127.0.0.1 in your hosts file...

Hello Charlie I dont know if this site can do anything about double click. Double click is basically spyware and it uses cookies to track your interests for ad specific advertisement. Double click is a monster and its tentacles spread all over the internet.

As the other poster suggested, install ad block plus 0.7.7.5 and subscribe to one of the ad blocking lists; and install NoScript. It will take you time to train NoScript though frustrating, it is worth the effort. (I have almost removed it from my computer a half dozen times, but now glad I didnt)

All computers need to utilize some type of spyware protection. Some AVG programs include such. I use XP Pro and Firefox, but I also use CC Cleaner, Ad Aware, and Spybot. Alll 3 programs are safe and free and they immunize your puter.

I know its basic and probably something you practice already, but be sure to defrag and purge your cache on a regular basis.

If you arent allowed to use this software to protect your puter, then youre out of luck. Spyware including double click is gonna get you. I cant imagine any corporate IT guy having a problem with these programs. They are necessary in todays internet world.

My browser is equipped with security add ons, I have spy ware protection running, and I can go to any site unhampered.

I wouldnt use IE because it is a major target for all the bad guys and its security is still suspect.

Another alternative to IEPro is Firefox with NoScripts addon.
