It's typical, it fits both sides of the pendant.

Sorry delmarrey,I looked and couldn't find 4 corners on my GLOBE,But the seven or so seas might work in well.

Every chart I have has four corners except for the torn one's!

And last I heard, there were 9 seas.

I really like Dels idea. It's simple and because of the striking colour difference, you don't have to see the smaller features of countries to know it is the world and four compass points. This one could be taken further by Andy's graphics people and made to look even better, but the basic concept I really like. It gives a "global" story to the flag. A simple CF will not mean anything to anyone that does not know us. So the chances of anyone asking what the burgee means will be slim. Where as Del's Brugee would open curiosity. CF could still be placed in the logo somewhere or even the WWW. adress, but I think the lettters would be too small to make the WWW. thingy worth placing in their.
But that's IMO of course.

Another good point! I have a Latts & Atts burgee and have had many people ask me about it!

There's too many big words and not enough pictures in that link David ;-)

The burgee should be considered a "club" burgee. It won't hold the same rank as you official club Burgee if you have one. But I mean the CF Burgee will be unique to us as a group or club and thus needs to represent like such. Not an off the shelf signal flag.

A flag needs to be simple in design to make it easy (and economic) to produce. The detail in a globe or other maps will make it difficult to reproduce easily and cheaply for everyone to want one.

They are cheaper by the gross. And have you ever heard of silk screen printing or making a plate for a press. For a thousand of them a plate wouldn't cost all that much.

Have you ever seen umbrella's with company logo's or sting pennants?

They are not really that expensive once a pattern has been established!

I think you need to be able to fly it from the mast head and at least know what it is from below. Fine details just are not visible more than 10 ft (at least to my old eyes). Here is a link to see about as many bugrees as I can find in one place:

Obviously we don't want to steal one but I think it helps to see what they look like. There are maybe several hundred here.

Related question: How do you pronounce "burgee"? Soft "g" or hard "g"? I had thought, since the word appeared French in origin, a soft "g" was more appropriate. On the other hand, most of the times I've heard the word pronounced, it has been with a hard "g" ... as in "hamburger".

Any opinions?
