Alex... The F designation gradually turns into a K designation after a few years of frustration...

Adds reach a record high?

Has something changed with the policy on adds? This forum now has more adds than any other forum I have even used. Im thinking of deleting my account.

Yes have noticed the same thing and some of the ads are not nice to see, a couple of times I've had pop ups right when I was read a comment, so my time here has been less as don't like the distraction.

If youre using Chrome as a browser you can install the Add Block Pro Extention that will remove adds from just about every website you visit. including those annoying ads at the start of youtube movies.

Well maybe the choice to get greedy will backfire. I have already started posting on another sailing forum and it seems I am not alone.

I'm sure the standard response will be to become a "supporter", but I won't do that by being forced into it. Another forum I use has zero adds and allows hundreds of PMs for free. I chose to donate $50 and I didn't get a banner to glorify the fact either.

Re: Adds reach a record high?

Ads? What adds? I'm on a tablet running Android. No ads here.

If do log on the main computer I use Firefox as my browser and run add block plus. Go to the settings activate a filter or two and voila. Eliminates just about any pop up or ads that are annoying.

wondering around with no destionation

Exactly our point Wonderman!
If not on a mobile device.... We either have to:

1. Use Ad block and miss all the ads INCLUDING the one's we want to see and click on... Thereby completely eliminating the usefulness and convenience of the "clicker" and all of the revenue that would have been generated by the "clikee host"

2. Not log on at all...

3. Log on for very short annoying times...

4. Move on to another sailing forum...

Re: Adds reach a record high?

I have installed ABP in chrome and still get the adds.

I already have moved on to another forum but I still use this one too. The adds are just getting too much now.

That's the message we want to get across... We use the ads... just don't shove them in our face or deteriorate the usefulness of this website !

Well being a 'Supporter' I followed the advice in the other Thread and went to settings and ticked a box... and the new annoying ones disappeared..
To me the $15 is worth it as this is the most free flowing forum I've found.. Yes.. I am a member of others but there's so much back and forth to get to segments I get Pee'd Orf and log out rather quickly.. here I log in and bam... I'm straight into any conversations current.. and a click away from any of particular interest.. no.. for me this place still ranks top spot..
Well.. till my next ban at least..

Re: Adds reach a record high?

Most of my reading is done on the CF app. On my droid. I am happy with how it works.

If I do start to look at other forums that tapaptalk app looks like a nice app for browsing many forums all at once. I just got to wander B) on over there and sign me up

But baby steps one at a time. Maybe once I'm in the middle of the lake at night, got a few poles in the water, tunes going, and hearing the slap of the water go agenst the hull I'll start reading others.

I am still figuring out what to try to learn and understand. So get some hands on then explore other places.

wondering around with no destionation

Re: Adds reach a record high?

Banned? I've never yet to be. There is always a first time for everything and one day I will get the ax I bet. I'm feeling it will be when the cooler is next to me and I'm at said place on lake.

My opinion at this moment is bias since I've only been here on CF as well as this is the first forum in my life I've felt the need and want to put up a user name and start to really interact. In general I feel a nice go flow mood in these parts.
