Map tiles?

What app are you using to access AC data?

They don't work anymore, something about copy rights. See noted on the homepage

Yes. Garim purchased it and is screwing with all the data WE all entered.

Use OpenCPN and Squiddio plugin, or try mxmariner.

Re: Active Captain

I think OP's use of the word "tiles" is significant.

I dunno what tiles are... perhaps because we've only ever accessed AC data via their website or as integrated into our Time Zero/MX Mariner/Plan2Nav systems...

But I think AC phased those out several years ago, per their newsletters... so all the AC data came to be only available through the various apps that integrate AC.

Well before Garmin and AC hooked up.

That is a fact.

That is an opinion and arguably a conspiracy theory. Do you have credible information to support your statement?

I have seen no sign of any change in the management of ActiveCaptain.

Re: Active Captain

I have nothing to support it, but Garmin is commercial.

I believe the actual Active captain app has map tiles that you download. I have not accessed it in a long time as I have the Garmin app and of course AC has been integrated for a long time

Pretty sure there was an AC e-mail -- maybe even a few years ago, by now -- that said they weren't doing tiles anymore.

IIRC, the recommendation was to instead use any of the several Android or iOS apps, and/or any of the several nav products (plotters, laptop software, etc.) that integrate AC data.

I think the tiles were provided by MapQuest at the time and MapQuest decided not to supply them anymore. AC wrote about it at the time, quite a while ago.
