A Pirate Looks at Forty

I guess this is the forum for feedback so...

Ban me for a week if you want to. Lock this thread too. Delete it if you must but I have to get this off my chest.

It is outrageous that the Pirate in Search of training thread was locked.

I doubt seriously if the young man is a troll. Trolls deliberately stir up conflict and usually only post once or twice There was pretty much no conflict in that thread at all and I thought we were having an interesting and fun conversation with a newbie.

There's a lot of threads that should be locked but this wasn't one of them.

Maybe someone didn't like his handle or maybe we seriously are not allowed to talk about pirates. If that's the case maybe Jimmy Buffet will have to be banned from the sailing world...

Hell, Sully is interested in giving him a spot on a delivery so I guess my opinion is shared with at least one other member.

It's your websote, do what you want but I thought this one was OTT.

Thanks for listening.

Just can't keep my mouth shut.......

Hey Dan,

Your title caught my attention so I read that thread.....

Come on people! We are (mostly) all reasonably intelligent adults here. We can distinguish between the fantasy of "hero pirates" and the reality of modern day piracy.

I most certainly identify with the independent and free spirited character of our fantasy "hero pirates" and have been known to fly skull & crossbones to display this spirit.

I applaud Wally for embracing his dream.

I thought the initial post was a bit childish, but nothing fundamentally wrong with that........it takes a while to learn to be a boring old fart

IMO the "Problem" (if their actually is one) was the initial response.....which led to an internet Lynching Possibly quite appropriate for a Pirate

Anyone else notice the somewhat different reaction to new folk when they have a female style name, no matter what the OP is...........

I didn't see a problem with the pirate post. Know idea why it would have been banned. Thanks for bringing it up Ex CA

Is everyone mutineering against the moderators in defense of the pirate, now? Ya'll will hang for this!! LOL

Pblais read a somewhat spammy post and closed the thread. Maybe it was spam, maybe it was just someone being silly, but it was a very odd thread, you have to admit, and kinda hard to tell which was the case, IMO.

Sorry Folks. There has been a slight mis-understanding. Lets just say "we appolagise for the interruption to our viewers due to atmospheric conditions. Normal viewing will return as soon as possible".

Gee.......I hope that I didn't contribute to a linching here.....That surely was not my intention.

Due to my experience with piracy and the seriousness of piracy to "World Cruisers", I felt compelled to bring up the subject. The OP clearly stated his lack of experience and I thought that it might be helpful (to the OP) to mention the downside of clowning around about something that some (myself included) find offensive.

However, just because a few people have a negative opinion about something shouldn't limit them or others from expressing their views. I really didn't see anything bad in the thread. I certainly expected some childish reaction to my post as the topic was clearly childish. However, no one got personally offensive, that I saw.
